From an economic perspective I am amazed that his assumption of healthcare as 17% of GDP doesn’t take into account any of that money spent actually creates more wealth (it does).
Of course CNBC is getting advice from someone who admittedly doesn’t know alot about health care, this also the guy who wants higher taxes on rich people but has never vountarily given extra money to the IRS (we call that a hypocrite down here in the south).

Buffet is crazy. Next thing you know he will want a “healthcare competition czar”. Interesting that Buffet doesn’t mention preventative measures, like avoiding coke & pepsi, which cause pancreatic cancer. Buffett owns those companies, right?
Warren Buffet is looking at health care from an detached position. He cares about the expense his companies pay for insurance coverage, not about the quality of care for employees. From his point of view, offloading the insurance expense to taxpayers through the government raises profits. Unlike the rest of us, when he needs heath care, he can get the best money can buy anywhere in the world he needs to go to get it. I notice that Warren totally avoids discussing that the real reason for some unnecessary testing is defensive medicine (resulting from frivolous lawsuits). Other big cost drivers are over utilization of benefits in government programs (i.e. Medicare & Medicaid) and cost shifting from these programs to the private insurance sector. As Reagan said: “Government is not the solution, government is the problem”.
